The L-shaped bungalow, located in the middle of a triangular plot in the woodlands of Kapellen, was extended with a mirrored L-shape which folds around the existing contours. Several split-levels generate different views towards the surrounding garden. The new wooden awning at the south-west facade brings shade to the concrete terrace and connects the original building with the extension. The concrete exterior fireplace pierces the awning and breaks up the facade with a subtle hint to the original structure, while at the same time it functions as the center of the outdoor area. Post design, the bungalow looks like it was always meant this way.
